I have a short blog this week. I just wanted to remind everyone
of the modified schedule for practice next week, due to the holiday. Mon: YMCA 4-5, Perry 6:30-8pmTues: YMCA Mussels 3-4,
Urchins:6-7Wed: YMCA Crayfish 6-7, Mussels 6:45-8pm Thurs: No practiceFri: No practice
At the meet this weekend, we will continue to have the swimmers explore
different events, so everyone gets a time in each event. We will be offering clinics at Perry the weeks before meets, the
first one is this Thursday. We will have an additional coach at practice, to work on dives, flip turns and any strokes you
are having difficulty with.
Everyone continues to do a fantastic job, keep up the great work.

Well done on our first home meet. Thank you to all the parents who volunteered their time
and helped run the meet. A few things we need to remember for future meets: 1) Please stay in the water until everyone
has finished the race and tell your competition "nice swim"; this is polite, shows good sportsmanship and helps
build camaraderie between teams. 2) Please stay and cheer on your relays. Once you have finished your leg of the
relay don't run away to get your towel, stay and cheer on your swim team mates. 3) Please try and stay until the
end of the meet. I know this can not be avoided sometimes, but it shows great team spirit to have everyone cheering at the
very end of the meet. Its also nice to address the team as a whole at the end, and do a cheer for the other teams
participation.
Reminder: Check the revised Thanksgiving Schedule, please volunteer for the next home meet, and
keep up the good work.

Finally we are almost Through with the Flu and things can
once again get back to normal. For those of you who attended the Howl at the Moon Invitational, congratulations on great swimming
and you showed great support for each-other by cheering one another on, and also by the amount of comradery in between events.
We finished in 4th place and i am very proud of everyone. Some points of interest: 1 If a man
in a white shirt approaches you after a race and starts to tell you that you did something wrong, don't freak out. It is the
official explaining to you why you have been disqualified. Usually i try to intercept him and explain why to the swimmers
myself, but occasionally they slip by. 2 Getting Disqualified: is not the end of the world. In my career
i was disqualified 237 times, and many of those were at championship meets. Use the "DQ" as a learning tool and
make the necessary improvement. 3 At this point, places really don't mean much to us as coaches
and really shouldn't have such emphasis to the swimmers. What matters is self improvement. If you continue to work hard, listen,
practice often, and make the necessary improvements to your strokes: places will improve on their own as will your times!!
Keep up the good work, i know its been a rough couple of weeks with illness and everything, but now that we are getting
healthy again, please try and make it to as many practices as possible. Volunteers: please help out with the meet this
weekend, we will need alot of help from the parents to make the meet run smoothly and since its the first home meet, the nerves
are high. Please lend a hand.

teams with as few as 20 swimmers and as many as 200 swimmers all ages and skill levels. This is Matt's fourth year coaching
the Geuaga Otters Swim Team, you may have also seen Matt this summer as head coach of the Chardon Sharks Summer Swim Team.
He enjoys working with kids and 4 years ago he and
his wife had a baby girl, Stella. Matt also has two other children (Alex and Lindsay) that he was so blessed to inherit when
he married his wife Lori. Matt looks forward to having a wonderfully white winter with all of you. Please do not be afraid
to approach Matt with any concerns or potential problems.
Becky Repasky - Assistant Coach I am excited to be a part of the Geauga Otters Swim Team. Swimming
has always been a passion as I have competed in age group, high school and college teams. After graduating form Bethany College
(WV), I coached for 5 years at Baldwin- Wallace College and taught Physical Education Courses. Currently I still race competetively
in 1/2 marathons and triathlons. I look forward to working with everyone this season!
Matthew
Wilmot, Assistant Coach This is Matthew's third year working with the Geauga Otters. He was a swimmer on the team from its founding
year till he graduated from Cornerstone Christian Academy in 2009. Since graduating high school Matthew has been attending
Kent State University's Geauga campus and has just started the nursing program there. He hopes to go into pediatric
nursing and enjoys spending time with kids. This is good because Matthew and his wife Tiffany will become parents this
December 2011.
